Today I learned how to change lanes and take curves, as well as driving on a highway.
overwhelming / a new experience Colleen kept me calm, and told me what i needed to do gently and clearly. Colleen should keep doing what she is doing :) The lessons are informational and fast paced / very clear and educational |

(Carli's Mom) 1st Lesson 6.23.2018 |
My expectations of today's lesson were:
Having my daughter more comfortable with driving. My observations today are: Going to be very helpful my daughter with her turns and friction point. Colleen did a wonderful job of explaining all the important ins and outs of fiting in the car, turns and importance of looking in all the mirrors. Colleen should keep doing what she is doing. The lessons are relaxing and knowledgeable! Best driving lesson my daughter has had. |

In today's lesson I learned:
When to accelerate and deaccelerate regarding the beginning and end of a block How far away I should stop before a red light or stop sign Being aware of staying in my lane U-turns Unprotected turns Scanning intersections and scanning ahead of me As I drive more and more I feel more comfortable behind the wheel, so this lesson was not as challenging as the first couple of lessons, but still learning new things. To improve my learning process, Colleen explained to me what I should be doing before and while I'm doing it Colleen should do more of the same The lessons are fun and engaging. I look forward to these lessons and learning new things. I would definitely recommend Colleen to a friend. She teaches really well and is fun to be with |

I felt really well prepared. I only got one point off and I believe it was that I didn't do a traffic check on my fourth left turn.

It was a good introduction to the world of driving and helped me understand iffy situations that take place which is detramental to driving.
In today's lesson I learned how to pull into the road while parked at a curb, how to turn correctly using hand over hand, how to do a u-turn, reference points, friction points, and vantage points, and how to turn while using the gas pedal, To improve my learning process, Colleen made sure to keep me in a calm environment, she also pitched in when I did something wrong, told me what to do and what not to do. |
Julia
Permitted Driver Age 15 1/2 Sherman Oaks Highways 2 1.21.2018 |
I am uncomfortable going fast so it was a little challenging. I am also uncomfortable with lane changes.
Today I learned how to be more independent when I am driving, how to make turns better, how to drive in the freeway. The lessons are Good but difficult |
Cindy
(Julia's Mom) Highways 2 1.21.2018 **UPDATE** passed DMV test currently licensed |
My expectations of today's lesson were to experience driving the freeway.
Julia did a decent job driving the freeway and streets. She still lacks confidence. I imagine that she will gain that confidence with practice. As someone sitting in the backseat with an inexperienced driver at the helm, I found this lesson to be absolutely terrifying. Colleen you possess patience like no other. |

Cindy (Julia's Mom): Passed.
I believe that she felt nervous. She told him (the DMV examiner) so. And then she pulled through.
Julia: There was nothing unexpected and I felt prepared.

I thought it was great. Not exactly what I thought I needed before the lesson, but the things I learned will improve my driving overall.
Many basic things but necessary. To improve my learning process Colleen did go over the basics, like how I hold my hands on to the wheel, and where to look. Colleen should go onto larger roads. The lessons are very specific. Everyone needs to learn these basics. |

In today's lesson I learned:
Protected & unprotected left turns -when going to the turning lane, slow down before the signal -straight to the vantage point -smooth speed through the turn -smooth recovery Keeping the sidewalk in the windshield through a right turn Pulling to and away from the curve (lane change) Practice backing up in a line Lane changes -keeping up with speed of traffic -signal only when you’re ready to go The level of difficulty is medium. It is needed practice Colleen explained everything thoroughly and considered my confidence level Colleen should continue doing what she is doing The lessons are important This Lesson Topic teaches you safety within constant skills you need when you’re driving |

Everything was understandable and easy to do overall.
I learned how to not use SMOG, signaling correctly. Holding the steering wheel properly, good seat adjustment. Checking mainly the rear view mirror while driving ever 5 seconds. Looking further ahead in turns and in general, using more of your peripheral vision. Safely checking intersections and getting through them. She (Colleen Kelly) clearly gave instructions that were understandable and didn't rush any instructions. The lessons are educational and very helpful She is a very nice instructor and knows how to teach well. |

It was a lot of the same thing but it was good and I felt myself improving at things that seemed challenging at first. Right turns, left turns, U turns, 3 point turns, just general rules of driving (staying in the right place on the road, when to accelerate, friction point, etc)
Fast paced but not overwhelming. |

Driving to Westlake High School and back Developing a better sense of direction/following navigation Lane changes and turns Colleen makes me think ahead and plan out each step Reinforces good driving habits Addresses mistakes; explains why they happen and how to correct them A good way to learn good driving habits and become a safe and smart driver. Today's lesson -- Introduction to getting started, some neighborhood and street driving
My son does better in the street than I expected. It takes awhile to get used to correct foot-on-pedal placement. Backing up is easier than I thought it would be. Colleen stayed calm, used repetition, waited for the student to answer questions More in-depth than a typical driving school I think people would know they wanted this if they realized where basic driving schools leave off |

Permitted Driver Age 16 Thousand Oaks Review/Grading 04/17/2017 **UPDATE** passed DMV test currently licensed |
The curriculum itself isn't challenging, but I have not had a lesson in a while and have been doing certain things incorrectly for a while that have now become habitual, so it was challenging in the sense that I had to work on breaking a lot of those habits which I have developed over the last 6 months.
Realistic. The lessons teach not only driving technique, but also develop driver's intuition, so that the driver learns more than skill as he or she also learns to be a decisive driver in a realistic setting in which people don't know that the student is a student driver. It is unique from other driving schools as the student is not exhibited to the rest of the drivers that he or she is practicing around as a student driver. Also, the student has to decide for himself or herself what he or she should do first and then Colleen will correct them when necessary rather than just having instructions thrown at them with no decision making process. |
Ryon
Permitted Driver Age 16 Thousand Oaks Highways 2 03/04/2017 |
Today's session involved many previous lessons, such as turning at intersections and making lane changes. Although I was a little intimidated by the freeway entrance, and need to slow down more on the exit, today was not too difficult.
I learned how to enter a freeway, maintain speed, and to exit. I also got the hang of properly checking the intersection. I thought what Colleen did today was great. It helps to calm me down when I get into a conversation. It makes driving seem more casual to me. |

Today's lesson: Certificate of completion of Driver Training (DMV required course) Parking up hill Parking down hill Round abouts 3 point turns The parking wasn't too challenging as I was already comfortable with parking. Downhill was hard but not too difficult or overwhelming. Colleen should remain staying calm like she always does. The calming atmosphere helps me to not get stressed and overwhelmed. The lessons are very helpful and I have become so much better because if it. I would recommend this to a friend because Colleen really knows what she's doing and has some great technique styles. I learned about seat adjustment, where my seat and wheel should be. I learned how to adjust my mirrors and what I should be able to see. Turning right on to a two way road was a little tricky but most of the other stuff like checking for people cars and bikes before turning wasnt as difficult.
I learned to check my mirrors constantly and look for pedestrians, cars, and bikes when turning. Frequently reminded me to check my mirrors before and after turning. She also taught me to look where you want to turn to. Calm environment where I don't feel that I'm being pushed out of my comfort zone. It's given me confidence to drive and took away some stress I had about driving. |

Helped me to look ten seconds ahead. Make sure to scan and be aware of surroundings. I find these lessons to be more helpful than Mercedes Driving School because I only have one instructor also it is easier to be told what I'm doing wrong and how to fix it than being asked what I did wrong. I found these skills to be essential to driving. It has been very helpful for me. |

The specifics of what is on the DMV test and how to satisfy what the DMV wants along with learning other useful information.
Harder than before. It is a stricter lesson because it is meant to prepare me fully for my test in a few days. Was strict and harsh to replicate a sadistic test given, which is good. Similar situation to the test was replicated. Increasing in difficulty, which is good. The lessons overall cover a lot of useful material and have prepared me well. Be diligent and not slack or forget lessons that are taught. The DMV will look for all the material covered in instruction. This lesson was very effective at showing me the true nature of the test. It was well needed. |

Freeways.
Progressing nicely, appropriately paced for his relative experience. Miles is more comfortable behind the wheel & more responsive. He still misses some things & needs to work on turns. He takes short cuts & skips important steps. For Miles, it’s important to him to know ahead of time what he is doing. His mind works better that way. Practice certain repetitive movements so they become second nature (like signaling for example). Your level of patience and calm is very important in this process. Miles reacts well to it. |

Improvements of the basic defensive driving on Monday.
Colleen is teaching me about the self awareness when in intersections. Fun! Testing my skills when driving. Teaching me fundamentals of driving. Looking forward to other lessons. Be more cautious when passing through intersections. Always check the center mirror. It is your main one. Liked the extra tip about parking. |

I learned a whole lot. For starters: adjustments, checking mirrors, turning arcs, coming to a FULL stop, scanning intersections.
Today’s level of difficulty is I think beginner, but with Colleen I feel like a pro so who knows? To improve my learning process, my instructor gently reminds me of things to keep in mind and asks me what I’m looking for to keep me involved and paying attention. Overall, my lessons are informative, relaxed and fun! And informational! Woohoo! Learn how to be a confident driver by learning the right way . . . with Colleen! Now I get why everyone swears by her. Colleen = The best! |

I was hoping today's lesson would cover less! :)
Wow, Colleen is so calm and comprehensive at the same time. She's actually teaching Megan how to be more aware of her surroundings ... beyond just driving the car! The instructor reminded Megan to breathe. Constantly talks out what needs to be done. Asks questions instead of barking commands. The lessons are Fabulous! Full of teaching moments with nary an accident. Real life teaching on hard crowded streets with focus on developing her reactions & visual instinct first! My advice to someone who is interested in learning to drive or become a better driver is def work with you. I know I will not be able to provide as many teachable moments with such calm! |

I learned to watch out for unprotected intersections and to stay in my lane. Also to not tense up and put too much pressure on the steering wheel or gas pedal. Relax and don't tense up and be worried.
Colleen pointed out what I was doing wrong in a calm, easy and helpful way. I thought the driving was comfortable and not too difficult. |
